MPP Policy Tracks

The University of Utah MPP degree program prepares you for your career by providing an opportunity to specialize in a policy area of your choice. You will take four courses in the area for a minimum of 12 semester credit hours. The track options are:

  • Family and Social Welfare Policy (with an option to complete a graduate certificate in demography),
  • Health Policy
  • Community Policy
  • Environmental Policy
  • International Context of Public Policy
  • Education Policy
  • Economic Policy, and
  • Urban Affairs Policy (with a graduate certificate in Urban Planning)

In addition, with the approval of the MPP Program Director, you can pursue an existing certificate to fulfill the emphasis. Finally, you will also have the opportunity to create, with the assistance of the MPP Program Manager, an alternate track of emphasis in a substantive policy area (e.g., Business Policy and Regulation, Land Use and Water Policy, Social and Child Welfare Policy).
